Article Summary

To add a question to a survey, click the Add New Question button at the bottom of the Questions panel. This will add a new default question to the end of the survey.

Question Label & Prompts

The first field on the new question row is the question label. This is what will appear to identify the question in all Mindful Feedback reporting. Try to make this short and unique. If no label is given, Feedback will instead try to show the full question prompt text in reports.

The question prompt is what will actually be presented to the respondent when the question is asked. The same prompt will be used for all survey types unless a sound file is selected. The sound file will override the question text in voice-type surveys. Note that, like all other survey prompts, the question text makes use of the prompt template system.

You will need to select a question type, of which there are six. For more information on question types, see this article.

Questions are asked in the order they are listed in the questions panel. You can change this order by dragging the arrow buttons on the left side of each question row.

Advanced Settings

Under advanced settings are the scale label and reporting options. The scale labels let you customize the labels shown under the slider control for number questions on web surveys. The reporting option determines whether the question should appear on the Dashboard and in historical reporting. It may be useful to turn this off for certain questions, especially questions used solely for survey flow using the question triggers system. More detailed information about advanced settings is available in this article.

Question configuration is saved along with the other survey settings by clicking the Update button in the bottom right corner or pressing the CTRL-S keyboard shortcut.

Restore Deleted Questions & Copy Existing Questions

If you are bringing back an old question from your survey that you had previously deleted or want to replicate some questions from a different existing survey, you can do so by using the Restore Deleted Questions tab and the Copy Existing Questions tab.

Screen capture of Restore Deleted Questions tab

Restore Deleted Questions is a list of all of the questions that were saved in the survey and then deleted. The button on the right side restores the question.

IMPORTANT
  • Historical responses for deleted questions are not available in Interaction Details reports. To maintain historical data, we recommend disabling questions rather than deleting them. To restore historical data for a deleted question, first restore the question, then disable it.
  • Only questions that were saved can be restored. If you deleted a question but never saved a version of your survey with that question, it cannot be restored.

Screen capture of Copy Existing Questions tab

Copy Existing Questions is a list of all of the questions from all of your existing surveys that you can copy into your current survey. This tool copies the question, along with some of the advanced settings. It is important to note that Triggers & Events do not get copied alongside the question.
